Thanks so much to everyone that applied for our bartender position. We have filled the position and we're excited for our first employee to start this weekend!
It is also the last week of Women's History Month. Tonight we are releasing Mary Anning Gose. It was brewed by the ladies of Fossil. It is a small batch so make sure to stop by in the next couple of days to try it.
Who is Mary Anning? She lived in England from 1799-1847. She is credited with finding some of the first Ichthyosaurus, Plesiosaur and Pterodactylus skeletons. Her discoveries came at a crucial time when the scientific community was developing ideas about the history of the Earth. She was a self taught paleotologist in a time when scientists were mainly men. She may also be the inspiration for the tongue twister "She sells seashells by the seashore" since she would sell fossils that she found in a stand on the beach. We think that one of the first female paleotologists is an appropriate name for our first beer brewed by the ladies.
We're hiring! We are looking for someone to join our team as a bartender. Take a look at the job description below and email us at [email protected] for an application or attach a resume to your email. The deadline to apply is February 16th. Feel free to email or stop by the tasting room if you have any questions.

We have some exciting things going on! First, we're excited that the first of our "Talk Nerdy to Me" series is tomorrow (Thurs, Jan 15) at 7:00 pm. Anthony Maltese from Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center will be talking about how to find fossils. We're also releasing two beers to go along with the event. We will be releasing our Strata Stout, a milk stout with peanut butter, and Kunda Baltic Porter. Come on down and try a new beer (or have an old favorite) and learn something new! We plan to have an educational talk every month. Feel free to email us if you have any suggestion for topics.
We're also mid-way through our first round of voting for a new ingredient for our Evolution Ale. The Amber Ale will evolve over time with input from our customers. Every batch we will offer four ingredients for people to choose from. The options for this generation are vanilla beans, chiles, smoked malt and dry hopping. We are also going to donate a portion of the sales to a local charity and you get to decide which charity as well. Voting only takes place in the tasting room. We're excited to see how you decide how this beer will change!
We are so excited to announce that our Grand Opening will be on Friday, October 24th from 2:00pm - 10:00pm!
We've been busy getting the tasting room ready. Here are a couple of pictures to show the progress.
Our brew equipment was delivered this week! We've been busy getting it ready and we hope to brew on it soon!
Our KickStarter campaign successfully funded! Thank you to everyone out there for all the help, from the generous pledges to the marketing assistance... we couldn't have done it without you. We also passed our goal, allowing us to have close to the full $15K after the fees were deducted. We'll be sending out surveys soon and have already been checking our (mostly local) vendors to get updated price quotes.
Want to know more about Fossil? Check out some recent articles in local papers/blogs.
The KickStarter effort is over 1/3 funded already and we can't thank everyone enough. We started a Pinterest page along with a ton of fellow breweries, so be sure to check us out. We've procured materials for the cooler and those will start getting delivered this week along with the grain storage cage. The excitement is building every day!
Our KickStarter Project is well under way and we're approaching 30% of our goal being funded, with the rest of this month to go. Be sure to check out our Project page for more info, and share it with everyone you can.
Our brewing equipment is at the fabricator and they should be getting the first batch of rolled stainless steel tomorrow. Fabrication will take the bulk of 6 weeks, which gives us time to tackle the remodel and let the license and tax bureaus finish up on their end. All in all, we're still on track for a March opening!
